Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled coordinated attacks by ISWAP terrorists on three Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) in Borno State, killing 11 insurgents in the process.

The assaults targeted FOBs at Mayanti, Gajigana, and Gajiram between the late hours of February 28 and the early hours of March 1, 2026.

According to a statement by Lt. Col. Sanni Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North-East Operation Hadin Kai, five terrorists were killed at Mayanti, three at Gajiram, and two at Gajigana. The statement also confirmed the death of an officer in the Mayanti attack, while another soldier was wounded during the Gajiram assault.

“The failed assaults underscore the growing desperation of terrorist elements under sustained pressure on their enclaves, logistics corridors, and leadership structures,” the statement read.

At FOB Mayanti, troops held their ground despite intense enemy fire and ambushes, ultimately repelling the attackers. Exploitation revealed five terrorist corpses and the recovery of three PKT automatic anti-aircraft guns, two RPG-7 tubes, four AK-47 rifles, two FN rifles, three RPG bombs, and large quantities of ammunition. Sadly, an officer lost his life during the encounter.

The Gajiram attack was similarly foiled, with three terrorists neutralized and weapons including four AK-47 rifles, five anti-tank bombs, three locally fabricated mortar bombs, and one armed drone recovered. One wounded soldier was evacuated by a Nigerian Army Aviation helicopter for advanced medical care.

The assault on Gajigana was also successfully thwarted, with troops maintaining full control of the position.

Lt. Col. Uba added that troops also engaged insurgents in other Sector 2 operations, forcing terrorists to flee and abandon vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, drugs, and medical consumables. Two confessed ISWAP logistics suppliers were arrested, and additional encounters around Bulturam Corner and Dadingel in Gujba LGA resulted in the deaths of two more terrorists and the recovery of weapons and other equipment.

“All locations remain firmly under troop control, and the scale of recoveries highlights the degrading combat capacity of ISWAP elements,” the statement concluded.
