INEC UPDATES ON POLITICAL PARTY REGISTRATION

During its customary weekly assembly convened today, Thursday, July 10th, 2025, the Commission obtained a further update regarding supplementary appeals from organizations aspiring to be recognized as political parties. As of last week, an additional seven applications have been submitted, increasing the overall total to 129. All submissions are currently under review.
In contrast to the traditional approach employed in earlier registration, the Commission is launching a political party registration portal, which is an integral component of our Party Financial Reporting and Auditing System (PFRAS).
This will render the procedure more efficient and effortless. Within the upcoming week, the Commission will finalize the conclusive assessments of the portal prior to its launch.

Subsequently, the subsequent phase for organizations that fulfill the criteria to advance to the application stage will be communicated. The Commission will additionally provide directives to assist in the submission of applications utilizing the PFRAS.
In the meantime, the roster of the new affiliations has been published on our website and additional platforms for public awareness.
