A 26-year-old man, identified as Daniel, who allegedly murdered his younger brother, Emmanuel, in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, has reportedly died from injuries sustained during a mob attack.

The incident occurred on Monday evening near the Onigbara River, where Daniel allegedly committed the act during an altercation with his 17-year-old brother. Both siblings were sons of a respected police officer in the community.

According to a resident who spoke on condition of anonymity, Daniel was apprehended by an angry mob shortly after the crime and beaten severely before being rescued by police operatives. He was subsequently hospitalised but succumbed to his injuries.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state,*DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Daniel died in the hospital.

“Yes, the suspect died in the hospital, but the Commissioner of Police has ordered a manhunt in the community to arrest those responsible for the mob attack,” Ayanlade stated.

He warned that anyone found culpable would be arrested and prosecuted, stressing that mob justice would not be tolerated under any circumstance.
