In a fresh demonstration of her administration’s dedication to education and youth empowerment, the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, has distributed free General Certificate Examination (GCE) forms to students within the council.

Hotjist reports that the distribution took place at the council’s secretariat on Monday in Lagos.

Speaking at the event, the mayoress said the initiative is aimed at supporting the educational pursuits of young people in Ikosi-Isheri, stressing that no student should be denied the opportunity to further their studies due to financial constraints.

She added that the initiative, which started several years ago, is aimed at easing the financial burden on parents and guardians while giving students an opportunity to further their academic pursuits.

She noted with pride that many beneficiaries of the program have gone on to excel in Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges across Nigeria, representing Ikosi-Isheri LCDA honorably.

The Mayoress emphasized that her administration has always placed education and youth empowerment at the heart of governance, investing in schools, supporting skills acquisition, and sustaining initiatives such as the Free GCE Form Distribution.

Princess Bada went further by highlighting the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and encouraged parents, guardians, and eligible youths to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC). She stressed that the PVC is essential to shaping the future of governance in the community, Lagos State, and Nigeria, empowering citizens to support leaders who listen, care, and work for the people.

The Mayoress further urged beneficiaries of the Free GCE Form Distribution to study diligently and excel, assuring them that her administration would continue to provide additional support, including JAMB forms and scholarships for outstanding students.

She reaffirmed her administration’s dedication to building a stronger, more educated, and more empowered Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, promising that great work would continue into her second term.

Beneficiaries of the scheme expressed gratitude to the mayoress for easing the financial burden on their families and reaffirmed their determination to excel in their examinations.

Olutayo Modesire, one of the beneficiaries, thanked Princess Bada for her kindness and commitment to education, saying, “Most of us, we took WAEC before, but we failed; this is like a second chance for us.”

He also commended the Mayoress for her contributions to road construction, healthcare, and education in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.

Daud, another student, stated that the Mayoress has been a tremendous support, helping them pursue their education and creating opportunities for success.

Oduola Aliyah expressed her joy and gratitude, saying, “I’m really happy for this opportunity by the Mayoress. May God bless the Mayoress always and continue to enrich her pockets.”
