Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen sparked excitement in the Ojota area of Lagos after videos of his visit circulated online, attracting a large crowd of fans who surrounded his vehicle and temporarily slowed movement
Videos shared on social media showed enthusiastic supporters gathering around the Nigeria international, chanting his name, recording moments and crowding around his car.
As the crowd grew, Osimhen eventually stepped out of his Lamborghini to engage with supporters and help ease the situation, moving through the crowd in an effort to calm the atmosphere and manage the reception.
The scenes in Ojota were a vivid illustration of the love Nigerians have for their most celebrated footballer, even as speculation continues to swirl over his club future.
Victor Osimhen, 27, continues to attract interest from several European clubs despite Galatasaray maintaining that the striker is not available for transfer this summer.
The Turkish champions, who retained their Super Lig title last season with Osimhen recording 22 goals and eight assists in all competitions, are reportedly holding out for a minimum fee of €150 million after turning down a €120 million bid from an unnamed European side.
Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek, speaking through Turkish football analyst Nevzat Dindar, stated that the club will only consider a sale if their valuation is fully met and the player expresses a desire to leave a scenario that has yet to materialise.
