United States President Donald Trump on Friday jokingly suggested he would seek a fourth term in office, drawing laughter from guests at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C.
Speaking at the rescheduled event held at the Waldorf Astoria, Trump wore a red “Trump 2028” cap as he made the lighthearted remarks in a video later shared on X by the account RapidResponse47.
Addressing attendees, Trump quipped that he had a “scoop” to announce.
“I’m pleased to announce my intention to run for a fourth term as President of the United States. I’ll be making it official. It should be easy. I’m getting very good at running for president,” he joked.
Trump also revisited his long-standing claims about the 2020 presidential election, insisting he had won three elections.
“I won three times. Did very well the second time, by the way. It’s a rigged election, but we’ll have to talk about it,” he said.
Under the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, no individual can be elected president more than twice, making a fourth presidential bid constitutionally impossible.

The dinner marked Trump’s first appearance at the annual event as president after skipping it throughout his first administration and the early months of his second term.
Originally scheduled for April, the event was postponed after gunfire near the venue prompted the evacuation of attendees, including Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. Authorities later arrested a suspect in connection with the incident.
The rescheduled gathering was held under heightened security at the Waldorf Astoria, ending the Washington Hilton’s 58-year run as the traditional venue for the annual correspondents’ dinner.
