YAHAYA BELLO AWARDS N30M TO KOGI STUDENT FOR AVIATION TRAINING

The family of Enejoh Faith, an aviation student from Kogi State, has expressed appreciation to former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello for providing N30 million that enabled her to complete her aviation training and move closer to achieving her childhood dream of becoming a pilot.
Faith and her family visited the former governor on Monday night to thank him for his intervention after financial constraints had threatened to halt her aviation programme.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by Bello’s spokesperson, Onogwu Muhammed, the former governor first met Faith and her father on July 17, 2025, when they visited his residence to seek financial assistance.
Faith, who was wearing an aviation uniform at the time, had gained admission to undertake aviation training but was unable to raise the funds needed to complete her registration and continue with the programme.
Her father presented her admission letter and other relevant documents to Bello and explained the family’s financial difficulties.
Following their appeal, Bello decided to personally fund Faith’s aviation training.
The statement said the programme cost about N30 million, adding that Bello provided more than the initial amount requested because he anticipated that Faith could face additional financial challenges during her studies.
The intervention was kept private at the time, with no public announcement or media event organised to highlight the support.
During their visit on Monday, Faith and her family briefed Bello on her progress and expressed gratitude for helping her pursue her long-held ambition.
Faith’s father revealed that she scored 89 per cent in her Public Pilot Licence examination and had successfully completed her training in preparation for the next phase of her aviation career.
He also noted that Bello had no prior relationship with either him or his daughter before their first meeting.
“And Oga did not know me before. He didn’t know my daughter,” he said.
Expressing his appreciation, Faith’s father described the former governor as a highly valued member of their family and prayed for continued blessings upon him.
He said the family would remain grateful for the support, adding that Bello’s intervention had brought immense relief after the uncertainty surrounding his daughter’s education.
The former governor’s spokesperson said the assistance was part of Bello’s private scholarship initiatives, which have supported individuals pursuing education and professional training.
Muhammed disclosed that at least four beneficiaries had received support to train as pilots through the former governor’s private scholarship programme, while other beneficiaries had been assisted to pursue university education in Nigeria and abroad.
He added that Faith’s family visited Bello not to request additional assistance but to express their gratitude and provide an update on the outcome of his intervention.
