Senate Gives IG, DG SSS 24hrs To Retrieve The Mace Stolen By Alleged Hoodlums.

The Senate has issued a 24 hours ultimatum for the Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim and Director General of the State Security Services (SSS), Mallam Lawan Daura, to recover back the mace stolen by the alleged hoodlums.
This followed the incident of removal of mace by hoodlums who stormed the chamber of the senate on Wednesday while sitting was on going.
However, Senate plenary resumed about 15 minutes after of closed door session immediately after the earlier incident of forceful removal of the mace.
National Assembly correspondent Folashade Abdulsalami reports that the Lawmakers in their resolve insisted to get to the root of the matter saying the incident was an assault in democracy and an obvious act of treason.
Deputy president of the senate, Ike Ekweremadu who presided over the session The session is holding with the mace, the official symbol of authority firmly in place, and Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, presiding over the plenary session further alleged that the hoodlums severely attacked some members of staff of the National Assembly, particularly the Sergeant-at-Arms on Chamber duties.
He added that they also attempted to kidnap two of their colleagues.
In the meantime, some House of Representives members led by Deputy Speaker. Hon. Yusuf Lasun, are in the Senate chambers in solidarity visits.
The senate thereafter concluded all matters slated on the order paper before adjourning for Thursday following the earlier submission of Sen Ekweremadu to be determined in concluding orders of the day even if it meant they sit till 6pm
