UN minister: Yoga has become the crown of the world’s health
Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said on Tuesday that Yoga has become “crown of the world’s health” and the country feels proud that its thousand years old culture has proved to be “resource of health” for the entire world.
Participating in the second International Yoga Day with thousands of people here, Naqvi appealed to the people to make Yoga Day a day of “commitment to good health”.
“Celebration of International Yoga Day by the entire world community with passion and enthusiasm is another evidence of India’s growing prestige at global level,” he said.
Naqvi said that Yoga is more important today as human mind and body has been affected by stress and pollution.
“Yoga is not just an exercise but it is ‘health science’. Yoga provides energy to our body as well as our mind. It helps in maintaining a balance in our lifestyle. Yoga is the union of the individual self with the universal self. The aim of Yoga is to calm the chaos of conflicting impulses,” he said.
Naqvi said that he himself has been practicing Yoga for the last several years and it provides benefit to people of all age groups.
“It is not correct to link Yoga with a particular religion, region or community. Only ignorant people are looking at Yoga with narrow mindset. Politics on health is harmful for health,” he said.
