PRESIDENT BUHARI VOWS TO PROSECUTE SARS OFFICERS WHO KILLED KOLADE JOHNSON

President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated government’s readiness to prosecute alleged members of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad who killed Kolade Johnson, if found guilty.
The President who made this statement on Wednesday via his verified twitter handle said that his government will no further tolerate the brulatalisation of citizens by any law enforcement officer.
“The recent unfortunate action of SARS operatives from Lagos State Police Command, which led to the avoidable death of Mr. Kolade Johnson, is deeply regretted. Once again, our condolences to the family of the deceased. I am aware Police Authorities have visited them,” he said.
President Buhari further stated his acknowledgment of several genuine outrage by various civil society groups to “end SARS”. He however reinstated that, after the completion of the room trail, the indicted officers will be prosecuted in Court.
He concluded by saying, “while important steps have been taken by Police leadership to restructure and reform SARS, in line with the Presidential directives, more needs to be done. I assure this will be done. WE will continue to work to ensure that we have Police force that adheres to the rule of law”
