In his direct message (DM), well-known actor Chinedu Ikedieze nicknamed Aki bemoaned the prevalence of social media users who pleadingly ask for money.

The overburdened comedy celebrity complains that there are so many online beggars that his direct message has been forwarded to Bank of Industry.

He recalled how two people allegedly asked for $35,000 and $12,000, with the latter saying he needed the cash to build a store.

In addition to pleading with his beggars to “take it easy on him” because they (celebrities) have duties and are also being impacted by the cash shortage, Aki expressed his exhaustion at the intense rate of begging occurring in his DM and even via email.

Additionally, he advised internet beggars to refrain from making negative remarks when they are unable to aid because, contrary to what they may believe, no bad things will happen to them simply because they were unable to provide assistance when it was needed.

Guys, I dey vex o, he said. This is not making me happy. This is out of control. How do you people make my DM into an industrial bank? Every time I open my DM, it says, “Bros please…please…please; it’s too much.

You guys are treating us like we have no responsibility by asking for money. I will run out of money if I begin to divide it in that manner. Haba! Occasionally whenever I open my DM

“Whenever I open my DM, one of two things pops up: guys, I need 40.000, or bros, my mom is ill. How much would someone beg me for in naira if they asked me for $35,000? Another person asked me for $12,000 because he wanted to build a shop and needed about N27 million.

The issue is that it affects more than simply Nigerians, Right now You guys are making it seem as though we have this money stashed away and that we must attend to your demands. Not at all, no. Everybody is feeling the effects of the economic crisis.

Make una take am easy, people. My DM was directed to the bank of industry as Una Don opened his office for me.

“Don’t make it look like if I don’t do this, something will happen to us. No, nothing will happen to me. I give when I can. Do you know the number of people in my DM? You guys are many. You guys even started sending messages to my email.  If I open my email, bros, abeg! Bros, abeg! Me sef dey beg una. Make una take am easy, abeg. I love you guys but I dey vex.”
