FIRE GUTS DUPLEX IN IKEJA, DESTROYED FIVE ROOMS
Five rooms in a duplex at 3 Michael Ogun Street, GRA Ikeja, Lagos, were destroyed by fire on Friday.
The fire incident occurred around 4:11 in the morning, according to a statement made by Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
According to her, the event took place on the top floor of a duplex that was occupied by people.
However, according to Adeseye, the fire, which started in one of the apartments, was effectively contained to the upper level and put out afterwards.
“The fire impacted five rooms on the upper floor of the duplex building, along with the household contents. As of now, the cause of the fire remains unknown.
“An ongoing investigation is being conducted to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties,” the statement noted
The Nigerian Police and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service’s cooperative reaction, the director of the Lagos Fire Service continued, “underlines a steadfast commitment to public safety.”
She added that the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has stressed to the public the significance of residents maintaining vigilance and giving priority to fire safety measures within their homes in light of this incident, and that regular updates on the ongoing investigation will be provided as new information becomes available.
