The General Manager, Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) has reiterated the Authority’s commitment to stopping illegal building developments and contravention of the State Physical Planning Permit Laws in the new year.

Osinaike made this known during the Agency’s resumption of its enforcement activities in the Ikeja Area of the State. He particularly expressed his displeasure at a building under construction at Issac John by Oba Dosumu Street, GRA Ikeja, opposite Radisson Blu Hotel, whose Developer was granted a six-floor mixed-use construction plus a basement by the Authority but illegally added another two floors to the ongoing construction.

The General Manager condemned the impunity of the Developer, noting that his failure to comply with the several contravention notices served led to the sealing of the structure, adding that the seal was later broken to continue with the construction works.

According to him, it is imperative to ensure that physical development activities are carried out with strict adherence to the extant Physical Planning Laws and Regulations of Lagos State.

Tpl Osinaike submitted that the Physical Planning Permit Laws and Regulations of Lagos State 2019 as amended prescribe the revocation of a Planning Permit in a situation where the Developer has exceeded the terms of approval granted through any modification, alteration or addition to the development without obtaining statutory documentation from the approving office.

While maintaining the need for the Developer to remove the additional two floors or have his approval revoked, the GM warned all Developers and Owners to desist from such acts and other contraventions to Physical Planning Permit Laws or face the full wrath of the Law.
