In an effort to expedite registration and integrate all residents—regardless of gender, tribe, or social standing—into the state government’s plans, the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) has established a dedicated centre at LASU’s main campus in Ojo, where staff and students can easily register and validate.

The idea was made public today when Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, MNI, NPOM, Vice-Chancellor of the University, and her staff received a courtesy call from Mrs. Adebiyi-Abiola Bilikiss, General Manager of LASRRA, and a few other agency officials.

According to Adebiyi-Abiola, Lagos State University is a magnificent fortress that is well-known throughout the world and ranked highly among other universities in Nigeria. As such, the university deserves a lot of consideration when it comes to staff and student planning. “It is imperative that all individuals within this establishment are listed in the agency’s database to ensure proper provisions for their welfare and socio-economic prosperity,” the speaker stated.

The general manager went on to say that the purpose of creating a dedicated centre at LASU Main Campus is to streamline and simplify LAG-ID pickup and registration processes so that employees and students won’t need to visit several LG/LCDAs to complete these processes.

Adebiyi-Abiola clarified that the registration process starts with an online registration before actual biometrics may be taken. She also mentioned that the registration procedure is finished when a smart, multifunctional card with several functions is issued.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olatunji-Bello, who had previously extended a hearty welcome to the team, praised the idea of establishing a special unit to help institutions financed by the Lagos State Government comply with the mandate that they all enter the LASRRA database.

In order to fulfil the commendable effort, Professor Olatunji-Bello instructed the institution’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department to communicate with the LASRRA team.

Also present during the courtesy visit by the LASRRA Team are Principal Officers from different Directorates of the Institution.
