Read Time:1 Minute, 34 Second

Teachers and scholars in Education District VI have been tasked by Mrs. Victoria M. Peregrino, Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), to continue to be driven by excellence.

Present at the Education District VI Y2023 Annual Merit Honours and Honours’ Day ceremony recently held at Oshodi, Peregrino offered the following advice: while encouraging other teachers to work harder and put in more effort to be beneficiaries of such honours in the future, he urged the honorees to stay unselfish.

She pleaded with the educators to make the most of all the policies and programmes that the Lagos State Government had put in place for their benefit, noting that they should also make an effort to continue being models of excellence for their children.

The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Education District VI, Dr. (Mrs.) Shareefah Adejoke Yusuf, made these remarks earlier in her opening remarks. She explained that the purpose of the annual event is to recognise and honour those who have excelled in the previous year and to provide inspiration and encouragement to all those involved.

According to Yusuf, there are several categories for the awards, including merit awards for students who excelled in extracurricular and co-curricular activities; students who brought honour to the district through their exceptional deeds; teachers who have demonstrated their value through their exceptional contributions to the development and triumphs of our students; and stakeholders who have been the district’s pillar of support.

Dignitaries at the event include Hon. Olubunmi Oluyadi, Vice Chairman Ojodu LCDA, representing the Chairman, Mr. Segun Odumbaku; Alhaja Folashade Moronkeji, immediate past President (ANCOPSS) Lagos State; PS, TESCOM Mrs. Iyabo Motilayo Seriki-Bello; PS, Health District VI, Dr. Abimbola Mabogunje; TG/PS, District I, Mr Adeoye Adebowale; TG/PS, District VI, Mr. Olusegun Osinaike; PS, Estab & Training, Mrs. Olubusola Abidakun; SUBEB Chairman, Dr. Hakeem Shittu and TG/PS District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye.
