Lagos State Public Servants have been urged to always find time to engage in physical exercises in the interest of their health.

The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, stated this today during the February edition of the monthly walk for fitness organised for public servants in the State, noting that apart from going to the hospital to access medical care, routine exercise is a cheaper way of maintaining good health.

While stressing that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration was determined to evolve a healthy population, Agoro said the exercise was paramount to keep public servants fit in the discharge of their duties.

He thereby commended public servants who turned out in their numbers for the exercise and urged them to imbibe the spirit of hard work.

The Head of Service, who also reiterated the State Government’s commitment to addressing the economic hardship facing the State, said Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is passionate about the welfare of residents.

Also, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. ‘Sunkanmi Oyegbola, who was delighted about the monthly exercise, said a healthy workforce is a productive workforce.

Oyegbola, who stressed that public servants in the State are now taking their well-being into their own hands, urged them to make the exercise as part of their lifestyle.

Speaking on the announcement of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on a three-working day plan every week for Civil Servants, Oyegbola said it was about flexible work hours, adding that it is not work-free but work from home.

Nigerian comedienne and actress, Bose Ogunboye, popularly known as Lepacious Bose, who gave fitness instructions to the participants, urged all the public servants to participate more in physical fitness activities.

Adebola Williams, also known as Debolalagos, in his remarks during the exercise, admonished all public servants in the State to let their legacies be what they would be known for, adding that history will be kind to those who embrace good things.

This month’s edition of the Walk for Fitness has become bigger, better and more interesting as some of the retired Permanent Secretaries and Directors in the public service also participated actively.

Many of the participants were delighted and commended the Lagos State Government for the initiative, describing the exercise as a way of keeping fit.
