Read Time:1 Minute, 23 Second

A valiant effort from the entire squad and the heroics of goalkeeper Okemute Odah were sufficient to earn Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) a point against Plateau United FC in Jos.

The Jos-based side’s perfect home record was broken as the Ibadan soccer lords battled to a 0-0 draw with the home team.

The Oluyole Warriors got off to a strong start in the Matchday 21 match at the New Jos Stadium, taking the game to the hosts as soon as the referee’s whistle went.

Plateau United will soon enter the game, but their attempts to score were unsuccessful due to Okemute’s reflexes and the defense line’s resistance, which included Victor Ehibe, Aniyikaye Adeleye, Adelowo Gbolagade, and Muritala Taiye.

While Jimoh Oni and Alimi Sunday led the front, the visitors struggled to contain Alex Aghahowa, Ayobami Junior, Malomo Taofeek, and Daddy Abdulrahman.

After a goalless first half, both teams increased their intensity in the second half in an attempt to score, but it was not to be.

Meanwhile, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote strenghtened his side with the introduction of Joshua Akpan, Pyagbara Dumte, Lawal Abdulalahi, Gali Falke and Ayodeji Bamidele in the second half.

The hosts got an ample opportunity to break the deadlock towards the end of the match when they were awarded a penalty after Okemute fouled a Plateau United player.

The Shooting Stars’ safe hand however, produced a superlative save, to deny Plateau United victory at home for the first time this season.

The draw takes the Oluyole Warriors’ point haul to 27 from 21 matches and the team will next play host to Bendel Insurance in matchday 23 tie billed for Thursday.
