RAMADAN/LENT: MAYORESS OF IKOSI-ISHERI DISTRIBUTES FOOD AND CASH PALLIATIVES TO RESIDENTS

The Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, distributed food and cash palliatives to residents of the LCDA on Wednesday.

The palliative, according to the Mayoress was given as an intervention for Muslims and Christians during the Ramadan and Lent periods.

This is a monthly exercise in the LCDA and also the third edition. This edition was different from the previous ones as it was aimed to feed 6000 people including those that are not residents of Ikosi-Isheri.

She described Ramadan and Lent period as a time of spiritual renewal and devotion, while also adding that it is also a time for kindness and generosity towards others

“This is what we have been doing since inception and I want to assure you that we will not relent.”

“It is our duty, especially as a Local government, to support and uplift those in need, especially during the time of spiritual activities.”

She, however, affirmed that her administration will not relent on what it is doing while calling on residents to embrace the spirit of giving.

“To our Muslim brothers and sisters observing Ramadan, may this period bring you spiritual fulfilment, peace and blessings; and to our Christian brothers and sisters observing Lent, may this month of reflection defend your faith and bring you lots of love.”

Mayoress also thanked all members of the Ikosi Isheri LCDA for their support and prayers in achieving all these things, while commending President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the efforts they put in to ease tension in the nation on food security and the general economic hardship.

She thanked the residents for their coordination and resilience as well.

“I commend the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, and the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for their untiring efforts in easing the suffering of the people in this trying time, and ensuring autonomy at the local governments”, she said.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Fasilat Salau, who got the combo package of Rice, Garri and Beans, with a transport allowance of N2,000 expressed deep gratitude to the Mayoress for the provision as she claimed that it will go a long way in feeding her family.

Those that benefitted from these  intervention program are the Old, Pregnant and Nursing mothers and others.
