LASTMA WARNS MOTORISTS AGAINST CAUSING TRAFFIC CONGESTION AT FUEL STATIONS
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has issued a warning to motorists against causing traffic congestion while queuing for fuel at various filling stations and impeding the free movement of other road users.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki gave the warning recently as he deployed additional officers to monitor traffic around fuel stations across the State.
Mr. Bakare-Oki explained that the increased deployment is necessary due to reports of long queues at filling stations caused by motorists who park indiscriminately, blocking roads as they queue for fuel purchase.
He expressed dissatisfaction with the chaotic behaviour of some drivers, who park carelessly and disrupt the smooth flow of traffic around petrol stations.
“The current fuel scarcity is not an excuse to obstruct and disrupt traffic in Lagos. We want our roads to be free-flowing; fuel queues should not become a burden for other road users in Lagos”, Mr. Bakare-Oki stated.
He reiterated that effective traffic management is essential for achieving a seamless multi-modal transportation system in Lagos.
The General Manager also called for full cooperation from the public to ensure that the ‘T.H.E.M.E.S Plus’ agenda of the current administration results in positive socio-economic development and enhanced security of lives and property.
He further urged the public, particularly motorists, to make use of LASTMA’s newly inaugurated toll-free call centre: 080000527862, for Complaints, Comments, and Commendations (C.C.C.).
