ZAMFARA: BANDITS KILL EIGHT, KIDNAP SEVERAL IN ATTACK ON FOOD SUPPLY TRAILER
Armed bandits killed eight people and kidnapped several others during an attack on a trailer carrying food supplies in Matashayi Zaki, along the Dansadau/Gusau road.
The attack occurred around 6:00 p.m., shortly after military escorts had departed, leaving the trailer unprotected.
Travel along the Dansadau/Gusau route is only possible with military escorts. However, it was reported that these escorts do not wait for any vehicle that delays their movement.
Additionally, military personnel are allegedly charging large sums of money to escort travelers to and from Gusau and Dansadau due to the high risk of bandit attacks.
A resident, Ishiaku Muhammad, expressed concerns that villagers are suffering financially because of the fees they must pay for military protection.
“We have no option, because we are afraid of the bandits, and the army authorities claimed they have installed a military station at Dansadau but there has been no positive effect,” he lamented.
Following repeated bandit attacks along the Dansadau/Gusau road, the Federal Government established a military base in Dansadau to curb their activities.
However, despite the military presence, the attacks have continued.
