AMOTEKUN UNCOVERS FAKE NIN OFFICIAL IN EKITI
The Ekiti State Amotekun Corps has uncovered a fraudulent National Identity Number (NIN) official operating within the state.
A report shared with journalists in Ado Ekiti on Saturday by Officer Adeleye Abiodun Adewale, the Head of the Communications Department, stated that, following instructions from the Ekiti State Amotekun Commander, Brigadier General Ibukunoluwa Adewa, a 26-year-old man named Tayo Ige, a native of Odo Emure along First Bank road, was arrested by Ise Ekiti Amotekun operatives on Thursday, March 6th, 2025.
Upon investigation, the Amotekun Corps operatives found that the suspect, Tayo Ige, admitted to the crime. He confessed to deceiving a large number of people in the town by posing as an NIN official.
Ige further explained how he carried out his fraudulent activities, describing how he would visit different areas in Emure-Ekiti, using counterfeit NIN materials to mislead and manipulate residents.
The Amotekun officer who arrested Ige clarified that the suspect was apprehended during a routine security patrol in the town. He was then promptly transferred to the Amotekun Headquarters Command for further processing.
