Rapper Chris Brown was taken into custody early Thursday morning at a high-end hotel in Manchester in connection with a reported bottle assault at a nightclub in London.

Metropolitan Police officers arrested the 36-year-old American singer shortly after 2 a.m. at The Lowry Hotel.

The arrest is linked to an incident that occurred on February 19, 2023, at Tape nightclub in Hanover Square, Mayfair, where Brown allegedly attacked music producer Abe Diaw.

Diaw claims the assault was unprovoked and took place around 3 a.m. at the exclusive nightspot.

Brown had entered the UK the previous day, arriving at Manchester Airport on a private jet.

Following confirmation of his presence in the country, Metropolitan Police detectives traveled to Manchester to apprehend him.

He is currently being held at a local police station for questioning.

A Met Police spokesperson confirmed: “A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

He remains in custody. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023.”
