POLICE CLAMP DOWN ON CRIMINAL HIDEOUTS IN FCT, ARRESTS 71 SUSPECTS

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended 71 individuals during a synchronized operation targeting suspected criminal sanctuaries and high-risk areas across the territory.
The initiative, executed on September 8, 2025, encompassed Gwagwalada, Kubwa, Nyanya, Apo, Karmo, Maitama, Mabushi, Dawaki, Galadima, Asokoro, Karu, Jikwoyi, Mpape, Lokogoma, and Utako Divisions.
As reported by police sources, substances believed to be Indian hemp and other illegal narcotics were seized during the operation. The apprehended individuals are currently undergoing evaluation and questioning, with those deemed guilty poised to face legal action.
These extensive arrests are a response to recent reports of illicit activities in various areas of the FCT and demonstrate the ongoing commitment of law enforcement agencies to tackle emerging security issues in the nation’s capital.
On September 9, personnel from the Byazhin Division successfully rescued a 40-year-old woman, Ms. Mary Moore, who was reported missing in Keffi, Nasarawa State, and subsequently located in the Byazhin vicinity. She has been transferred to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) for medical attention.
In a separate incident, investigators in Gwagwalada are examining the discovery of the decomposing remains of an unidentified man in the Ibwa 1 area on September 9. Following discussions, community leaders and police collaborated to arrange for the remains to be interred according to local customs.
Additionally, on the same day in Gwagwalada, authorities received notification regarding the sudden demise of a 24-year-old woman, identified as Ebubechukwu Sunday Kelechi, at her fiancé’s home. Preliminary investigations indicated that she had been receiving treatment for malaria, with medications found at the site. No apparent injuries were detected on her body, and inquiries are ongoing.
