POLICE NAB THREE SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS, RECOVER STOLEN VEHICLE

The Kano State Police Command has apprehended three individuals connected to an armed robbery incident in Abuja and has recovered a vehicle that was reported stolen.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, verified the arrest of the individuals in a statement released on Wednesday.

“Following the directives of the Commissioner of Police, the Command conducted a prolonged surveillance operation in conjunction with the local Vigilante, leading to the apprehension of the suspects on September 6, 2025,” he stated.

Haruna identified the suspects as Ismail Imran, aged 20; Abdulaziz Yahaya, aged 31; and Musa Ibrahim Isah, aged 29, all from Rigasa Quarters in Kaduna State. He noted that during the operation, a blue 2014 model Toyota Corolla S, with Registration Number KWL-78 DN and a shattered windscreen, was seized.

Haruna further elaborated that initial investigations disclosed that the vehicle was taken during an armed robbery that occurred on September 5, 2025, around 2:00 AM in Durumi, Abuja.

“The vehicle’s owner affirmed that the suspects assaulted his family, severely injuring one member, and absconded with the vehicle,” he remarked. The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the operatives for their prompt response and professionalism, asserting that the success of this operation highlights the significance of community-focused policing as advocated by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

“The suspects are currently assisting in the investigation to uncover the complete scope of their criminal undertakings,” he added.

The Kano State Police Command encourages members of the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

“We assure the public of our dedication to upholding the safety and security of lives and property throughout the state,” he concluded.

On Monday, September 1, 2025, the media reported the apprehension of 107 suspects involved in various offenses, including armed robbery, kidnapping, illegal drug trafficking, thuggery, and theft of motorcycles and motor vehicles, as well as other social vices throughout August.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, communicated this information while providing an update on the current security situation at the command’s headquarters in Bompai.

He stated that the suspects apprehended over the past month included eight armed robbers, eight kidnappers, three individuals suspected of human trafficking, and 14 alleged drug dealers.
