The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, on Monday unveiled 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks in Lagos, dismissing allegations of monopoly in the petroleum downstream sector.

Addressing journalists at a press conference, Dangote revealed that the company had invested ₦2 trillion in trucks and logistics, with the new fleet aimed at easing transportation and stabilising fuel supply nationwide.

Responding to claims from petrol marketers, Dangote insisted his company was not out to dominate the market. “We are not here to take anyone out of the market. The trucks we are deploying have already created 24,000 jobs, with salaries four times the minimum wage,” he said.

He disclosed that the group had purchased a total of 10,000 trucks, including CNG and dry cargo carriers, stressing that the initiative would modernise Nigeria’s transport sector. “Every day, trucks will be arriving. By the end of November, we will have 10,250 CNG trucks in operation,” Dangote assured.

On future plans, he announced that Dangote Group would begin rolling out electric vehicles by January 2026, alongside the refinery’s expanding output. He further projected that Nigeria would soon become the world’s largest fertiliser producer, describing it as “a big celebration for Nigeria.”

Dangote also noted that the group currently lifts 40,000 tonnes of diesel monthly and has exported over 1.6 billion litres of fuel, reiterating the company’s commitment to reducing risks for Nigeria while strengthening its position as a hub for energy and industrial growth.

Meanwhile, the first batch of CNG trucks commenced loading petroleum products at the Dangote Refinery on Monday, with the vehicles taking turns at the gantry for direct supply to filling stations across the country.
