Sani Lawal, the House of Representatives member for Zango/Baure Federal Constituency, has reportedly resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to a statement by former House Committee on Federal Character chairman, Abubakar Yahaya Kusada.
The announcement was shared on Kusada’s official page on May 10, 2026.
In the statement, Kusada described Lawal as a close friend and long-time political ally, noting that their relationship dates back to their time in the Katsina State House of Assembly after both were elected in 2015.
“Hon. Sani is not just my good friend and colleague; he is more like a blood brother to me,” Kusada said.
He praised the lawmaker as focused and committed, adding that the APC would feel his absence.
Kusada also wished him well in his future political journey, though he did not disclose the party Lawal may be joining.
Reports suggest the resignation may be connected to disputes over the party’s consensus arrangement and concerns about his return ticket.
