BREAKING: AKOKO LEAVES PLACED ON LADOJA’S HEAD AHEAD OF CROWNING AS 44TH OLUBADAN

The Afobaje of Ibadanland, Chief Waheed Popoola of the Labosinde Compound, Oja’ba, in the Ibadan South East Local Government Area of Oyo State has placed the Akoko leaves upon the head of the former Governor of the state, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, amidst a resounding ovation from the large assembly present.

This ceremonial act is a precursor to his transition to the Ose Meji House, where he will be formally acknowledged as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, shortly after departing from the Labosinde Compound.

Media reports indicate that Ladoja is designated as Olubadan following the demise of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025.

Present at the event were the High Chief of Ibadanland, Aare Latoosa, Chief Onikepo Akande, among others.
