The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has announced the semi-final matchups for the Spanish Super Cup.
Defending titleholders Barcelona will face Athletic Club, while Real Madrid will compete against city adversaries Atletico Madrid in the other encounter.
This year’s iteration of the Spanish Super Cup will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from January 7 to January 11, with all matches scheduled at the King Abdullah Sports City, which has become a regular venue for the tournament.
Barcelona enters the competition as reigning champions following Hansi Flick’s team defeating Real Madrid 5-2 in the previous season’s final, achieving a historic Treble.
The revised Super Cup format, implemented in 2019, includes four teams: the LaLiga champions and runners-up, as well as the Copa del Rey finalists.
