65TH INDEPENDENCE: CREATE JOBS, IMPROVE ECONOMY – NNPP CHIEFTAIN Ajadi tells Tinubu

As Nigeria commemorates its 65th Independence Anniversary, the South West leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to undertake immediate actions to enhance the nation’s economy and generate employment prospects for graduates.
Ajadi voiced his apprehension regarding the country’s deteriorating economic circumstances, highlighting that Nigeria possesses ample resources to uphold a vigorous economy within a democratic framework. He underscored the imperative for the government to create job opportunities for the increasing population of youth, many of whom hold university degrees.
In a communiqué disseminated to the press, Ajadi implored the President to seize the independence milestone as a moment for contemplation and to update Nigerians on advancements in improving livelihoods over the past two years.
“The plight of the average Nigerian is distressing,” Ajadi remarked. “It is ironic that the past was glorious while the present is bleak for ordinary citizens. Years ago, even under military rule, Nigeria was regarded as the giant of Africa. In the 1970s, the Naira was stronger than the British Pound and the US Dollar, the economy was booming, and job opportunities were readily available. Today, the reverse is the case.”
He added, “President Tinubu should assess what has been done to improve the economy and the welfare of Nigerians. The government must find ways to revive the economy and create employment opportunities. After 65 years of independence, it is disheartening that the living conditions of Nigerians continue to worsen.
Ajadi concluded by emphasizing that the Naira’s diminished value in comparison to currencies such as the CFA and the Ghanaian Cedi signifies the urgent necessity for economic reforms and job creation.
