AMUPITAN ARRIVES ASO ROCK FOR SWEARING-IN AS INEC CHAIRMAN
Joash Ojo Amupitan, the newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Thursday morning arrived at the Presidential Villa in Abuja for his swearing-in ceremony.
Amupitan, dressed in a cream-coloured agbada and matching cap, was received by senior government officials and aides ahead of the event.
His arrival comes shortly after his confirmation by the Senate following a thorough screening exercise. The legal scholar and former dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Jos is taking over the leadership of the electoral body at a critical period as preparations intensify for upcoming off-cycle elections.
The swearing-in ceremony, expected to be conducted by President Bola Tinubu, will formally mark Amupitan’s assumption of office and the beginning of a new phase for the Commission.
