The Federal Capital Territory Police stopped a planned attack by a dangerous kidnapping group. During the operation, three suspected criminals were killed, and weapons were seized.
A statement from the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said this action came after several kidnappings in the ACO community, Gwagwalada, and Bwari.
As a result, the Commissioner of Police ordered the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to work harder to break up the group.
Adeh explained that reliable information showed the group was planning another violent attack by December 1, 2025, with the goal of kidnapping people for money.
The statement said: “On November 30, 2025, around 2:11 p.m., police acted quickly on this information.
They found and arrested one of the main people involved, a wanted kidnapper and armed robber named Sani Mohammed Umar, also known as Boko. His mobile phone, which was likely used to organize the crimes, was also taken.“

“Investigations confirmed that the suspect belonged to the gang responsible for previous attacks and kidnappings in ACO, Dupa, and Gwagwalada, as well as multiple armed robbery incidents across Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Kwali.
“He also admitted that his gang members were waiting for him at Gada Biyu Hills, Kwali, where they had converged to commence their next planned community attack.”
The PPRO added: “At about 11:01 p.m., the Anti-Kidnapping team, led by the OC Anti-Kidnapping, advanced into the forest, reached the gang’s meeting point, and laid an ambush.
Adeh said the rest of the gang ran away, and they were thought to have been hurt by gunfire.
She listed the things found at the scene, which included three AK-47 rifles, three ammunition magazines, and 33 live bullets of 7.62mm caliber.
The police spokesperson said that they are still working with the Nigerian Army’s Forward Operation Base, 176 Battalion, Kwali, to catch the rest of the gang.
Teams are searching the forest and trying to block all possible escape routes.
She also said that local hospitals are being told to watch for anyone who comes in with injuries from gunshot wounds.
The Police Commissioner praised the bravery of the officers and asked people to stay watchful and keep giving useful information to the security agencies.
