PETROL PRICE TO DROP TO N739 FROM TUESDAY- DANGOTE

HOTJIST NEWS
Unless there’s a last–minute change, MRS and other partners of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery are going to start selling petrol at N739 per litre.
This happens two days after the refinery cut the price of petrol at the gantry from N828 to N699 per litre.
During a press briefing at the Lekki refinery on Sunday, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the President of the Dangote Group, said he knew that even though the prices at the gantry went down, some filling stations still kept their pump prices high, which was stopping his efforts.
He said MRS will start selling petrol at N739 per litre from Tuesday, and other partners will start soon after.
Dangote claimed that some officials had talked to certain marketers and told them to keep prices high to stop the price cut. He said he will fight to make sure the new price is followed.
‘I was told that the marketers have met with some officials and were told to ensure the price stays high. However, the price we are introducing will start at MRS stations in Lagos most likely on Tuesday, at N970 per litre, and you won’t see that price again. We have also asked members of IPMAN to come now’.
We have asked anybody who can buy 10 trucks to come and buy 10 trucks at N699.
“We are going to use whatever resources that we have to make sure that we crash the price down. We will get these sales; maybe it will take us a week to 10 days. But first of all, within a week to 10 days, we will be able to deliver. For this December and January, we don’t want people to sell petrol for more than N740 nationwide. Those who want to keep the price to sabotage the government, we will fight as much as we can to make sure that these prices are down. That’s not the price. If you have money to come and buy, you can pick up petrol at N699,” he said.
Dangote said that moving petrol from the refinery doesn’t cost more than N15 per litre, and he asked why pump prices are going up to as high as N900 per litre. He also blamed the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority for giving out 47 import licenses to bring in over seven billion litres of petrol in the first quarter of 2026, which he claimed is hurting local investments.
