World heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, was on Monday involved in a fatal road accident along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, which claimed the lives of two persons.
The crash reportedly occurred in the Makun area of the state, a busy section of the expressway that serves as a major transport route linking the South-West to other parts of the country.
Eyewitnesses said the vehicle conveying the British-Nigerian boxing star collided with another car under circumstances that are yet to be fully ascertained. Joshua was said to have sustained only minor injuries and was immediately attended to at the scene.
Two occupants of the other vehicle were, however, confirmed dead on the spot, according to witnesses who also participated in rescue efforts. The identities of the deceased had not been officially released as of press time.

Emergency responders and security agencies reportedly arrived promptly to secure the area, evacuate victims and begin preliminary investigations into the cause of the accident.
News of the incident sparked widespread reactions on social media, with fans and supporters expressing concern and offering prayers for Joshua, while also mourning the victims of the crash.
Authorities are expected to release further details as investigations continue.
