A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Aisha Yesufu, has cautioned the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, against accepting a vice-presidential slot in the 2027 general election.

In a video currently circulating on social media, the prominent socio-political activist declared that she would actively oppose any presidential ticket that presents Obi as a running mate.

Yesufu argued that the former Anambra State governor stands out as the most qualified among the aspirants and therefore deserves to contest for the presidency rather than settle for a deputy position.

She said, “I want to make my position very clear. If Peter Obi emerges as a running mate to anyone, I will actively work against that ticket.

“Even within my limited capacity, I will oppose it, regardless of whether I support another candidate or not. We must stop relegating the most qualified individuals to second place.”

The Media reports that Obi, who recently joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) a party adopted by a coalition of opposition figures seeking to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027 is among those positioning for the party’s presidential ticket.

However, emerging indications suggest that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar may secure the party’s ticket and could potentially select Obi as his running mate.
