FUEL PRICES MAY DROP AS PETROL MARKETERS AWAIT DANGOTE REFINERY OPERATIONS

Nigerian petroleum marketers have announced plans to reduce the price of premium motor spirit (PMS) to a maximum of N750 per liter nationwide, pending direct fuel supply from Dangote Refinery.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) said its members would access PMS at N699 per liter from the refinery starting January 2026, with transport costs bringing the final price to around N750, IPMAN President Abubakar Maigandi on Monday.
Currently, petrol prices range between N739 and N900 per liter across filling stations, with Dangote-backed outlets selling at N739 while NNPC retail stations charge N815 per liter in Abuja amid a growing price war in the downstream sector.
Maigandi said the direct supply arrangement is expected to narrow the price gap and make cheaper fuel widely available to Nigerians.
