A State High Court in Ota, Ogun State, has denied bail to controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable.
Portable was arraigned on a nine-count criminal charge, including assault, theft, causing harm, and resisting arrest.
The presiding judge refused the bail application, citing the absence of the allegedly assaulted police officer in court, and emphasized the need to hear from the officer before making a decision on bail.
As a result, Portable was remanded in custody, with a fresh hearing on his bail application scheduled for January 19.

Earlier, Ogun State Police Command spokesman Oluseyi Babaseyi stated that the criminal charges arose from a complaint reportedly filed by the singer’s estranged partner, Ashabi Simple.
Portable appeared in court on Monday following his arrest by Ogun State Police Command operatives over a series of allegations connected to a New Year’s Day incident at his bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area of the state.
According to the prosecution, Portable allegedly attacked Ashabi along with several police officers and others present at the scene during the incident.
He is also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at ₦12 million, reportedly belonging to one of the complainants, Ileyemi Damilola. The vehicle was said to be registered under a car dealer identified as Wally Dex Auto.
During the proceedings, two of Ashabi Simple’s siblings testified for the prosecution, recounting details of the alleged assault, while Ashabi herself was absent from court.
The police further alleged that Portable obstructed and assaulted a female police inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, as she carried out her official duties during the incident.
