Renowned Nigerian filmmaker Funke Akindele’s latest movie, Behind the Scene, has become the first Nollywood film to surpass N2 billion in box office sales.

FilmOne, a leading Nigerian film distributor, announced that Behind the Scene grossed N2,103,039,706 within just one month of its release.

In a post on X, the distributor noted that this milestone cements Funke Akindele as Africa’s most commercially successful filmmaker, and the highest-grossing producer, writer, and director in West African film history.

The actress was also recognised as the first filmmaker to hold the number-one spot at the African box office for three consecutive years.
