The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has condemned what it described as the unacceptable conduct of some players and officials during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 final between Morocco and Senegal, played in Rabat.

In a statement issued on Monday, CAF said it strongly disapproved of any form of inappropriate behaviour that occurred during the final, particularly actions directed at the match officials and organisers.

“The Confederation Africaine de Football condemns the unacceptable behaviour of some players and officials during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final,” the statement read.

CAF stressed that such conduct undermines the integrity of the game and contradicts the principles of fair play and respect that govern African football competitions.

The football governing body said it was especially concerned about incidents targeting the refereeing team and match organisers, noting that officials must be protected and respected at all times.

CAF disclosed that it has commenced a comprehensive review of all available footage from the final and will forward its findings to the appropriate disciplinary bodies.

“CAF is reviewing all footage and will refer the matter to competent bodies for appropriate action to be taken against those found guilty,” the statement added.

The development raises the possibility of sanctions against individuals or teams found culpable following the disciplinary process, as CAF reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on misconduct during official competitions.

The AFCON 2025 final drew significant attention across the continent, and CAF said it remains committed to upholding discipline, professionalism and respect in African football.
