The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that detailed investigations are underway into the sudden death of 22-year-old Afro-Fuji singer Adesina Afeez, popularly known as Destiny Boy. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the young musician’s passing.

A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, disclosed that one suspect has been taken into custody as the command intensifies its forensic and homicide investigation.

“The command has formally commenced inquiries, and the case has been moved to the SCID for a thorough investigation. One suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue,” the statement read.

Destiny Boy reportedly died on Sunday in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, sparking shock and mourning across the entertainment industry and social media. Disturbing videos showing his lifeless body being transported later circulated online, further raising public concern.

Although no official cause of death has been confirmed by his family, unverified reports suggest that the singer exhibited severe symptoms before his death, including vomiting blood.

Popular Nigerian singer Ruger reacted to the development on social media, highlighting concerns over a lack of transparency and the absence of an autopsy. “No autopsy, nothing! Are we just supposed to accept it like that? Someone has to be held accountable,” he wrote, reflecting widespread public frustration.

Destiny Boy, born Afeez Adesina, rose to national prominence with a viral Fuji rendition of Davido’s hit song If and later released several tracks that won him a loyal fanbase. He had welcomed his first child with his partner in November 2024, making his untimely death even more tragic.

In the weeks before his death, Destiny Boy frequently shared posts on Instagram with the phrase: “Either I make this money or I die young. Money must be made,” which has sparked emotional reactions and renewed discussions among fans.
