The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) recorded a 27.87 per cent increase in cash recoveries, rising to N66.12 billion in the first half of 2025 (H1’25) from N51.71 billion at the end of December 2024.

This was disclosed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in its Financial Stability Report for H1’25. The apex bank noted that the improved recovery performance helped reduce AMCON’s liabilities, while cumulative recoveries rose to N2.43 trillion, underscoring sustained efforts to strengthen the corporation’s balance sheet.

According to the report, total recoveries grew by 4.42 per cent to N2.426 trillion from N2.324 trillion in the preceding period. The recoveries comprised N984.52 billion in cash, N1.292 trillion from other collections, and N149.90 billion from asset forfeitures.

The “other collections” category included proceeds from property and share sales, rental and dividend income, sale of bridge banks, and re-investment income, highlighting AMCON’s diversified recovery strategy beyond direct cash inflows.

In addition, investment income from treasury operations increased by 2.08 per cent to N15.22 billion from N14.91 billion recorded in the previous half-year, further supporting the corporation’s revenue base.

On the liabilities side, the report showed that the carrying value of AMCON’s obligations declined by 7.84 per cent to N5.24 trillion from N5.69 trillion at the end of December 2024, reflecting improved debt management and settlement efforts.

However, AMCON’s total assets, net of impairment, fell by 30.97 per cent to N1.27 trillion from N1.84 trillion in the second half of 2024, largely due to ongoing asset disposals and recoveries.

The report also revealed that collections into the Banking Sector Resolution Cost Fund (BSRCF) amounted to N577.84 billion during the period, which AMCON utilised to meet its obligations on issued securities.
