ENUGU POLICE DETAIN 52 SUSPECTS, RECOVER ARMS, RESCUE THREE KIDNAP VICTIMS IN ONE WEEK
Agency Report

The Enugu State Police Command has recorded significant gains in its crime-fighting efforts, detaining 52 suspects, recovering firearms and ammunition, and rescuing three kidnapped victims between January 24 and January 30.
The development was disclosed in the Command’s weekly crime statistics released on Saturday in Enugu by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe.
According to Ndukwe, those currently in custody include three armed robbery suspects, 12 suspects linked to kidnapping, and three individuals connected to homicide cases. He added that two suspects were also arrested in connection with rape and defilement, four suspected cultists, and 28 others for various criminal offences across different parts of the state.
“The Command recovered one firearm, 20 rounds of ammunition of different calibres, and six stolen vehicles during the period under review,” Ndukwe said.
He further disclosed that three kidnapped victims were rescued during sustained, intelligence-led operations carried out by police operatives across the state.
In addition to arms and vehicles, the police also recovered hard drugs and a large quantity of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, highlighting an intensified clampdown on drug-related crimes.
Ndukwe attributed the operational successes to the dedication of police personnel, improved intelligence gathering, and effective collaboration with other security agencies and members of the public.
He reassured residents of the Command’s resolve to sustain the fight against crime and enhance public safety across Enugu State, while urging citizens to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with timely and credible information to strengthen proactive policing and rapid response to criminal activities.
