Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, has taken to social media to speak on her movie marketing strategy, urging her colleagues in the industry to embrace creativity and develop alternative promotional approaches rather than harbour resentment.

Akindele, who is widely known for her energetic, comedic and dance-driven marketing campaigns, currently holds the record as the highest-grossing filmmaker in Nollywood.

In a series of posts shared on her Instagram story on Saturday, the actress dismissed claims that she was hindering the progress of others in the industry, stressing that success is not a limited resource.

“I’m not the one hindering your progress. Ka rin ka po, yiye nin ye ni,” she wrote.

She further noted that the entertainment industry has room for everyone to thrive, urging her colleagues to carve out their own niche if they cannot align with existing strategies.

“If you can’t beat them or join them, create your own path. No allow jealousy burn you. The sky is so big for everybody to fly,” she added.

The filmmaker encouraged her peers to explore innovative promotional ideas or engage professional marketing firms to push their projects, emphasising that opportunities in the industry are limitless.

“Go ahead and create alternative promotion or marketing strategies for promoting your business, or hire a company to handle it. You can do it. The opportunities are endless, and everyone has their own path. I’m focused on mine, and I have faith in God’s plan for me,” she stated.

Funke Akindele currently dominates the Nigerian box office, holding the record for the top three highest-grossing Nollywood films. Behind The Scenes, released in 2025, has grossed N2.407bn and is still counting, while Everybody Loves Jenifer (2024) earned N1.882bn, and A Tribe Called Judah (2023) recorded N1.408bn.

Her comments have sparked renewed conversations within the industry about competition, collaboration and innovation in Nollywood’s evolving film market.
