The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, February 9, 2026, arraigned Gidado Ibrahim and Halimat Adenike Tejusho (currently at large) before Justice H. Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Maitama, Abuja, over an alleged N600 million job scam.

The defendants were charged on an amended six-count indictment relating to fraud, obtaining money under false pretences, and forgery, involving a total of N603,400,000 (Six Hundred and Three Million, Four Hundred Thousand Naira).

During Monday’s proceedings, prosecution counsel Y. Tarfa urged the court to allow the defendants to enter their plea on the amended charges.

Count one alleges that between August and October 2024, Gidado Ibrahim and Halimat Adenike Tejusho obtained N603,400,000 from Oluseye Yomi-Sholoye under the false pretense that they would secure her appointment as Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), knowing the claim to be false. This is contrary to Section 1(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006, and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.

Count two states that in August 2024, Gidado Ibrahim used a forged document titled “Presidential Villa State House, OFFICE OF THE NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER”, knowing or having reason to believe it was forged, in violation of Section 366 of the Penal Code Law, punishable under Section 364.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to all six counts when the charges were read to him.

Following the plea, prosecution counsel Tarfa requested a trial date and that the defendant be remanded in a correctional facility. Meanwhile, defence counsel B.B. Alhaji requested bail, noting that although the application was not yet ready for hearing, the defendant should remain in EFCC custody due to health concerns until the bail application is ruled upon.

Justice Muazu adjourned the matter to February 17, 2026, for hearing of the bail application and ordered that the defendant be remanded at Kuje Correctional Facility.
