POLICE ARREST THREE SUSPECTS OVER MURDER OF WOMAN IN ONDO STATE

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with the murder of a 27-year-old woman, identified as Faith, in the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday. He stated that the incident occurred on Fagun Estate Road 5, Ondo Town, in Ondo East Local Government Area.

According to Jimoh, the suspects—Olayode (27), Temitope (32), and Bolaji (22)—were apprehended following a report lodged at the Fagun Division on February 5. Upon receiving the report, police operatives promptly mobilized to the scene, where they discovered the victim’s lifeless body.

The remains were subsequently evacuated and deposited at the State Specialist Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Preliminary investigations revealed that unidentified assailants had forcibly gained entry into the residence of one Helen at Fagun Estate Road 5. During the attack, Faith sustained fatal machete wounds, which resulted in her death.

Jimoh noted that the suspects are currently in police custody and have provided useful statements to aid ongoing investigations.

He added that they will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has urged residents to remain calm and go about their lawful activities without fear, assuring them that adequate security measures have been put in place in the area and across the state to prevent a recurrence.

The Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and encouraged members of the public to provide credible and timely information to support police efforts.
