DANGOTE REFINERY MISSES 50 MILLION LITER DAILY GOAL BUT EXCEEDS IMPORT LEVELS

The Dangote Refinery fell short of its projected domestic supply target of 50 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) per day in January 2026, according to data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
The regulator’s January 2026 industry report indicated that the 650,000-barrel-per-day facility delivered an average of 40.1 million litres of petrol daily to the local market, missing its target by 9.9 million litres.

Despite not meeting its internal benchmark, the refinery surpassed fuel imports for the first time since January 2025. It accounted for 61.78 percent of the nation’s petrol supply in January, compared with imported products, which averaged 24.8 million litres per day, or 38.22 percent.
The NMDPRA also reported that Nigeria’s total average daily petrol supply stood at 64.9 million litres in January, while national consumption averaged 60.2 million litres per day.
