2027 AKWA IBOM LG ELECTIONS: AKPABIO PREDICTS HUGE APC VICTORY

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has forecast a landslide victory for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom ahead of the 2027 general elections, noting that traditional rulers and local stakeholders have reaffirmed their support for Bola Tinubu and Governor Umo Eno.
Akpabio, a native of Essien Udim, addressed journalists following the consensus election of new APC local government officers. He called on the newly elected party executives to maintain unity and strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.
In a statement released on Sunday by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, the Senate President congratulated party members, describing the leadership elections as a reaffirmation of loyalty to both the President and the Governor.

He stated, “My people have once again shown their support for Bola Tinubu. I am very pleased with the outcome. This is highly significant, though not the first time the residents of my local government have endorsed both President Tinubu and Governor Umo Eno.”
“They have also expressed strong support for Governor Umo Eno, commending his performance and pledging their backing. Traditional rulers have similarly insisted that any consultation for the presidency should only consider Bola Tinubu, and for the governorship, only Governor Eno, with the people fully endorsing this stance,” Akpabio said.
He further expressed confidence in the electoral strength of Essien Udim, predicting that the local government would deliver overwhelming votes for the APC in the 2027 elections.
He added, “Essien Udim is a highly populated local government, and based on current voter registration, it is expected to deliver over 180,000 votes for the President and the Governor. The exercise was very peaceful, and the council officers were elected through consensus. I am delighted to have witnessed and participated in this landmark event.
“I thank Governor Umo Eno for maintaining a peaceful environment in the state. When leadership is righteous, the people celebrate. I watched my community rejoicing, and I congratulate the APC on effectively securing a second term in Essien Udim Local Government Area.”
The Media reports that the endorsement comes as parties across states begin early political positioning ahead of the 2027 elections, with key stakeholders leveraging local party structures and traditional institutions to consolidate support and signal alignment.
