By: Balogun Ibrahim
Elizabeth Oshoba, ranked No. 1 by the International Boxing Federation, is set to face Chelsey Arnell on the undercard of the Caroline Dubois vs Terri Harper fight on April 5 in the UK.
Dubois and Harper will clash in a world lightweight title unification bout, alongside Ellie Scotney’s bid for the undisputed world championship against Mayelli Flores.
Oshoba will face Arnell over six three-minute rounds, matching the duration used in men’s boxing.
A six-time Nigerian national amateur champion, Oshoba also won bronze at the 2019 African Games, gold at the 2020 African Zone 3 Championships, and silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Oshoba moved to the UK to launch her professional boxing career in September 2022.
“Every fight is a chance to show who I am. I’ve sacrificed, I’ve trained, and I’m fully focused,” Oshoba said. “On fight night, I’m bringing skill, heart, and power—I’m leaving no doubt. Huge thanks to MVP, Jake Paul, and Nakisa Bidarian for this opportunity.”
Her opponent, Chelsey Arnell, is a 35-year-old professional from Hull with a 5-2-1 record, who has previously challenged for both the Central Area and English titles.
She said, “I’m excited to box over three-minute rounds, which fits my style far better than the shorter two-minute rounds. I’m grateful for this opportunity and ready to seize it fully.”
“The First Lady,” **Gallagher, will take on Finland’s unbeaten Teresa Makinen.
Gallagher, who started boxing at age 10, ended her amateur career with 35 bouts, winning two national titles, reaching the ABA Senior Elite finals twice, and representing England internationally.
“I’m excited for my MVP debut on a fantastic London card,” Gallagher said. “I’m ready to impress and show why I believe I’m the number one super-bantamweight in the world.”
At just 21, Makinen has amassed 86 amateur bouts and is one of Scandinavia’s most decorated female amateur boxers, with gold medals at the GeeBee, Tammer, Golden Girl, and Youth Boxam tournaments.
“Being part of MVP’s first UK show is a big step for me,” Makinen added.
“I have great respect for Tysie Gallagher, but I’m coming to perform at my best. On April 5, I’ll prove that I’m ready to compete for a title,” she said.
