Asake, born Ahmed Ololade, has opened up about the obstacles he encountered in the early stages of his career.

Speaking in an interview with the media, the “Sungba” hitmaker revealed that some event promoters once refused to book him because he predominantly sang in Yoruba.

Reflecting on that period, he expressed gratitude that he chose to stay true to his style rather than switch languages or abandon his sound due to rejection.

He attributed his success to perseverance, consistency, and strong self-belief, alongside divine grace.

“How I got to where I am today is by God’s grace, self-belief, consistency, and endurance. There was a time many people turned me down and wouldn’t let me perform at shows because I spoke Yoruba. But I thank God I didn’t give up and kept believing in myself.

“Now, look at where I am today. I’m truly happy with how far I’ve come,” he said.
