The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects and recovered goods valued at over Thirty-One Million, Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N31,750,000) following a tip-off from the public in Ibadan.
The operation followed a reported armed robbery along the Coca-Cola area, Asejire, where Ezekiel Inije was allegedly robbed at gunpoint by a five-man gang.
In a statement on Wednesday, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka said the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, directed the CP Monitoring Unit to act immediately. Using human intelligence, technological tools, and investigative expertise, the team tracked the suspects to the Oko area of Ogbomoso.
The arrested suspects are Chigbo Mesoma (24), Erondu Wisdom (29), and Okechukwu Emmanuel (25).
Recovered items include a Howo Long vehicle with Lagos registration AAA 724 YJ carrying 2,000 bags of Karma Agric Chicken Feeds valued at ₦31,750,000, a cutlass, and an additional Lagos State vehicle number plate LSR 339 XW.
CP Haruna commended the operatives and the public for their cooperation, emphasizing that community intelligence remains key in fighting crime.
The suspects are cooperating with investigators and have confessed to their involvement. Authorities assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the gang, notorious for highway robbery and hijacking.
Residents were urged to continue providing useful information, with assurance of confidentiality, as the command intensifies efforts to make Oyo State hostile to criminal activities.
