Manchester United F.C. goalkeeper Senne Lammens says he is embracing the physical demands of the Premier League after helping his side secure a hard-earned 1-0 away victory over Everton F.C..

In Monday’s clash at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Everton attempted to unsettle the 23-year-old by crowding his six-yard box during multiple corner kicks and firing several long-range efforts at him.

However, the Belgian shot-stopper, who previously played for Royal Antwerp F.C., stood firm to continue his strong start to life in England’s top flight.

Many goalkeepers arriving from abroad have found it difficult to adjust to the league’s physical style, but Lammens appears comfortable with the challenge. His performances have contributed to United’s rise back into the top four under caretaker manager Michael Carrick.

“For me, that’s just how it is,” Lammens said on Thursday. “It’s the Premier League. There’s physicality and a bit of a battle in the box. That’s one of my strengths, so I actually enjoy it sometimes.”

He acknowledged that limits must be respected but added that stepping outside his comfort zone has been rewarding. “Even with a lot of bodies around me, I still came for crosses. That gives me confidence that I’m handling things well.”

United signed Lammens for £18 million ($24 million) on transfer deadline day in September, and he has since replaced Altay Bayındır, who had earlier taken over from André Onana between the posts.

Although this is only his second season in senior football, the 6ft 4in goalkeeper has adapted quickly to the pressures of representing a high-profile club like United.

“A few weeks ago, I said I couldn’t imagine it going much better,” Lammens noted. “But I don’t want to dwell on that. It’s been great so far, yet I still need to prove myself every single week.”
